Science Based Target initiative, SBTi

We have committed to set ambitious long term carbon reductions targets

We at Jupiter Bach are devoted to wind and we are both proud of and dedicated to work in an industry that helps combat climate changes eventually making the world a green and better place.

It is therefore with pride we now announce that Jupiter Bach has decided to set ambitious long term carbon reduction targets by committing to “Science-Based targets” with external verification via the Science Based Target initiative https://sciencebasedtargets.org/

Targets are considered “science-based” if they are in line with what the latest climate science deems necessary to meet the goals of the Paris Agreement https://unfccc.int/process-and-meetings/the-paris-agreement/the-paris-agreement limiting global warming to well-below 2°C above pre-industrial levels and pursuing efforts to limit warming to 1.5°C.

Science Based Target initiative, SBTi

SBTi is a partnership between CDP, the United Nations Global Compact, World Resources Institute (WRI) and the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) and lead the way to a low carbon future.

Science-based targets show companies how much and how quickly they need to reduce their greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions to prevent the worst effects of climate change. The SBTi provides companies with a clearly-defined path to reduce emissions in line with the Paris Agreement goals.

Next step

At the moment we have a clear overview of our direct carbon emissions as well as emissions from purchased energy and selected indirect emissions e.g. transportation. The next step is to complete our carbon inventory with indirect emissions such as raw materials, waste, travels etc.

When we have established the full carbon inventory, we will have the background to set long term 2030 reduction targets in line with the SBTi. Our ambitions is to have the full inventory ready medio 2021 and the long term target set and verified by the end of 2021.
